About This Game

In this turn based RPG for Windows you play as a young mercenary and travel from soul to soul to avenge your fiance and her family. While finding a way to change the flow of past events, you will encounter many obstacles and meet new allies. Will you be brave enough?

This game aims to revive nostalgic moments for good old RPG fanatics (such as Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 3...).     The game is broken, I cant tell if its good or bad, its unplayable, crashes every 10 minutes, developed very poorly. When youre in the game you cant alt-tab, you cant control your system sound, and changing the sound settings in game is also very poorly designed, the settings go from 0 to 10 and you have to click to increase, and if you missed the number you want you have to keep clicking until it gets to 10 and then starts over. Any normal game since the late 80s have a sound bar that you can just normally adjust.
    The idea of the game seemed very interesting and it looks like it can be fun if developed properly by professionals but it seems like it was developed as a school project that a student was in a rush to submit to get that C+. I asked stream for refund,. Breaking into a tomb with your mates for a couple of underage beers seemed like a good idea at the time\u2026 now you\u2019re grounded! Oh yeah, and there\u2019s that pesky death curse you need to take care of. It\u2019s a hard life as an Egyptian teenager\u2026

    Ankh is a warm hearted, point and click adventure game. It\u2019s not too hard, not too easy and the dialogue options are really funny - you can see that the developers were influenced by Lucas Arts. There are double entendres thrown in for older players, but it\u2019s definitely a kid-friendly game.

    In older reviews, there were complaints about the game crashing and that there was too much travelling back and forth between areas. I have a bog-standard laptop and experienced no glitches in the game. Also, it seems like the developers have updated the game as there is a fast travel button in the desert area.

    I enjoyed the game, and at a sale price of \u00a30.83 I feel like there was daylight robbery committed\u2026 by me!
    . Really fun old-school point and click game. And by "old-school" I mean it is appaently a remaster of the original game released in 2005.

    Yep. It is a 12 year old game. So don't expect it to run well on a PCMasterRace Windows 10 Beast rig with a 21:9 or 4k multiple monitor set up.

    It runs great on a Windows 7 toaster. Which actualy surprised me, being that it was developed for Windows 2000, Windows XP. I did not need to set Win 7 to XP compatibility, but newer rigs than my 6 year old one may need to run the game in XP compatibility mode. The game does not have settings to adjust like modern, next-gen games. Because the game was developed in the early 2000's. When most computers were so similar, they were not needed. So, stop complaining if you can't get it to run well on your $6000 Beast Rig. The game was made to play on Legacy machines.

    That all said, the graphics show their age, but for gamers from "way-back-when", they were an amusing, colorful trip back in time. For me, at least. A classic point and click game from a decade+ ago. When many Steam gamers were still toddlers. Or not even a sparkle in their parents' eyes yet.

    Great humor and music from back then, may be over the heads of younger folks who aren't too familiar with how things were back in the 90's and early turn of the cnetury. Older gamers will *hopefully* appreciate the feeling of playing a game from our "younger" days. (I was 39 when this game first came out, lol!)

    It won't impress you with anything new, it isn't going to be like playing a newer next-gen game. But it is quirky, charming, bright, colorful, casual, and amusing for some of us "old fogies". At the time of this review, it is 90% off. If you play on a toaster, and have a few (or more) grey hairs, I think it is something you shuld get, just for the nostalgia and chuckles.

    For you kids... yeah, yeah. It has Trading Cards, but no achievements. The Trading Cards are currently listed on the Market at prices far higher than they are worth. You won't make profit, if that's all you are looking to do.

    I thoroughly enjoyed it. Your Milage May Vary. Widely.. Does not seem to be capable to handle 4K resolution. Menu to set resolution back to FHD is not displayed properly once 4K is set.. i can't see the text in the settings window on my 4k monitor. Excellent game. It crashed 2-3 times, but other than that, I experienced no problem at all. The story is interesting, the dialogues are funny, and the puzzles have the right difficulty. Thanks a lot for the game!

    #LegalizeBananas. This was a fun point and click with light humor. Puzzles were not overly difficulty which kept the plot moving. The length was perfect for introducing this three part series. I rushed to purchase the next two tales. Any racey jokes were mild enough I felt comfortable my kids overhearing. Lots of fun I would run through it again.. Don't do it.

So this review is based off my first couple of hours of gameplay, if anything significant happens to change it, I'll edit the review accordingly.

Steel Life is a great example of a point and click game done right. It's not perfect or groundbreaking but it checks off all the boxes of what a good point and click should be. The story is engaging and there are lots of unique characters to interact with. Plenty of puzzles and minigames to test your thinking and reflexes; nothing too difficult outside of a couple minigames that weren't explained clearly. The game has a handhold-y casual mode that points out interactibles and gives you as many hints as you want. Great for someone who just wants to play through it for the story. There is also a hardcore mode for those who don't want the help.

The art style is what really sold me though. It's like a steampunk-y version of the "Robots" movie. Everything is nicely detailed and there's all kinds of animation happening. The background music and effects are also quite good and add to the whole experience, which is saying something since I almost always tune out game music.

I should mention that game was originally made in Russian. The English translation is pretty good, though. I give it an A- because there have been a few wonky words now and then but over-all it reads smoothly.

All in all, this is a nice addition to any adventure game fan's library. I think it's worth it even at full price considering the quality of it but you can wait for a sale if you want.

    This is a great escape room-ish adventure. Definite buy when released.

    No jump scares in a horror game = instant buy.. Only a 5minute demo - whats to review?? EVERYTHING as it turns out! This is an AMAZING short roomscale based mystery experience. The level of detail and polish is great. The puzzles are interesting and intuitive like a horror version of Myst or The Room - the characters are huge and intimdating - I honestly didnt think i could bring myself to pickup the key (once you play you'll know what I mean).

    I genuinely can't wait to see what the full game brings when its released later this year, likely a Day 1 purchase for me when its out. Exceptional work Devs!. Awesome teaser for a game they're working on. It's very beautiful, has got a wonderful spooky atmosphere, amazing sound, excellent physics and it's fun to play.
    The developers were obviously aiming for perfection, so I was suprised to see one little and easily corrected flaw : the player's hands are so very plastic. Nevertheless, this is a game I definitely want to play when it's released!!. Wow. Very polished demo. Looking forward to the full game.. Damn. Very well made. Kinda difficult, a couple puzzles transition strangely and aren't super intuitive, but VERY polished and very creepy. Looking forward to full game!

Sadly I would recommend not picking up this game as the development has stopped. The concept was rather interesting and kind of reminds me of the old Rainbow Six games. Maybe down the road the developers will continue on with the development but in the mean time it seems like it's over.. SWAT 4 IN SPACE!!

it's pretty bad now, but it has so much potential. This is in a "proof of concept" quality level, with updates being pretty rare (almost 5 months). There are some indications that it might pick up (from the developer's Twitter conversation with some other developers "we gotta reboot Epsilon" and "Finally admitting I can't do this all on my own"). Until then, it's not enough to play like a normal game. I played for 25 minutes and felt like that was enough for me to get a taste of everything. That being said, it does seem to have promise, there are a few things I'm not a huge fan of, but overal, it uniqely fills a void left by Rainbow Six 3 and its predecessors. I understand this games vision and I love that vision. Whether that vision is actualized remains to be seen. So, if you want to throw in some money on the hopes that that might help this project move forward, go for it. But right now, it's definitely uncertain whether this will get finished or not, so otherwise, you might want to add it to your watch list and come back in a year or two.. Currently in "Development Purgatory."
Development is down to a crawl. Game is not good enough to release, not bad enough to throw away.. Only in Pre-Alpha and this game is a WHOLE LOT of fun. It's like Rainbow Six 3 in a sci-fi world. Can't wait for full alpha, then beta, then the full release. This game has a whole lot of promise to it and I can't wait to see where it ends up. Definitely worth getting in its current state!

    Best skin out of all the DLC. Standard Medic colors in most games. Makes Lazarus' glove look awesome :D. Wish I'd read the fine print, as this DOES NOT have a reskin for Slim (even though it shows his bio weapon reskinned in the \u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665ing advertisement). I'm not trying to be all tin foil hat here and say the big man is trying to steal our hard earned money, but I would like to point out that that's some pretty unethical business dealing.... Terrible and useless.

    The only moments anyone will see it is in the short match preparation, and since your armor colors won't change, your weapon will no longer match with the rest of your character.
    In the match the only person really seeing it will be you, yourself, and all you will see is the poor quality of these skins - they look nothing like on the screenshots.. waste of money
    only a slightly effect. Its a skin pack, not much to review, they are as shown.
    I got them as they give the Medic a more... Medical type aesthetic.. English:
    Be aware! Only the Equipment will have that Skin. The Medics themself will still have their standard Skin!
    I'm slightly diappointed, because i thought that the Skin also appies to the clothings\/suits.
    Further the skin of the Equipment (Granadelauncher, Sniper etc.) is not much of a change.
    My opinion: Sadly not worth the Money.

About This Game

Walkerman is a Visual Novel about hunting supernatural creatures. Each creature obeys a unique set of rules which must be exploited in order to defeat them, in a fashion similar to the old folk tales about vampires and garlic, or werewolves and silver bullets. Each act of Walkerman centers on a creature and the process of investigating it. Players will study the monster in order to ascertain its weaknesses, gather the necessary items, and then confront it in battle. Combat takes place on an isometric, pseudo-board game in which the player selects actions from a list of options. These battle sequences have multiple solutions, depending on the player's collected items and their knowledge of the monster. Players also steer the protagonist through his personal life in a similar fashion: deciding who to trust, where to borrow money, etc which alters how the story progresses.

Prologue: The Thing in the Weald
Jorgen, a nineteen year-old serf, has just embarked upon a peculiar career: monster hunting. As a walkerman, he will tour the streets and alleyways at night, battling supernatural creatures that emerge when the sun goes down. But before he can reach the city-state of Midgard, a chance encounter will send him spiraling headlong into a world beyond light and reason...

Interesting story with enough horror and intrigue to keep me clicking but this game only includes Act 1 at the moment which can be completed in a few hours. I'd suggest waiting for all 5 chapters to be released, if it ever does, before purchasing this game though. There are multiple branches that probably make this single chapter worthwhile but you probably won't be able to see the effects of your choices till the next chapters. While I'm anticapting the completion of the game, I fear it might not be finished judging by the gap between releases and how far it's strayed from its Kickstarter release schedule.. I've played for 31 minutes, and haven't actually gotten a chance yet to do anything besides left-click to see the next line of dialogue. Which would be more tolerable if the story itself didn't read like a much blander version of The Witcher.. Walkerman is visual novel that, unlike the majority of visual novels, isn't based off anime tropes, which isn't necessarily a good or bad thing, but one I find a bit refreshing in a genre dominated by anime. Walkerman also sets it itself apart from other visual novels by the fact that it actually has gameplay mechanics in the form of a board game aesthetic for battle sequences. While they have been short so far, the build-up and various different options that players have available more than makes up for the fact.

The characters and world building are also nicely done, Jorgan is definitely one of the more fascinating protagonists I've seen, he has the same world view that you would expect an uneducated peasant in the middle ages to have. He's superstitious, sexist, and racist. Which is great! I don't want him to start out as an accepting and egalitarian warrior, instead I'm much more interested in watching him build himself up to that as he becomes influenced by various different people and cultures and slowly becomes more and more enlightened as the game progresses.

So yeah, I would definitely recommend Walkerman for those of you interested in visual novels, or just reading in general. By the time of this review only the first act has been released, with the 2nd act's release date closing in soon, and I very much look forward to experiencing the rest.. Overall I enjoyed this game, though if it isn't already obvious it heavily draws its inspiration from the popular Witcher series. Even coming a little close to plaigirism in a few parts but it more or less never goes past alternate universe fanfiction levels. As for the gameplay its your standard VN, except for when it comes to the "Battle" part of the game. Using a square tiled map complete with tokens and animations seems a little pointless since you don't actually have any control over where you move your character. Instead, a series of decisions pop up based on context and what clues, inventory or choices gathered prior to the hunt.

Essentially it means you're still playing a VN, except now your choices are represented on a tiled map. The game they're going for here means I understand why you can't give the player actual control of a tile based combat system but it feels like they wanted to do something turn based and instead had no time, budget or couldn't make the system work so they just left it in there minus the gameplay.

Not a huge fan of the chapter ending song, sorry. The rest of the soundtrack is great though! Sound in general is pretty good, everything is mixed right and edited nicely.

At first the art didn't do anything for me but it started to grow on me. I don't love it but I'm fine with it, no complaints. Character designs are good for the most part, though obviously the ladies got more work put into them than the men. Unfortunately our first main story monster isn't particularly rememberable, which is a shame.

The writing is okay. Mostly because Jorgen, our protaganist, can be a real ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I don't like ignorance of this type from my MC. Because the story is first person, it sucks to be a character who is blatantly racist and intolerant of anything not "Raider". (his people) Doesn't matter if it makes sense in the setting, I still don't have to like it.

The only other point of contention was with the dancer girl and the socio-political workings of the Walkerman-verse. It felt like a combination of a massive expositional info-dump (nobody likes those) and people who took one class in world politics and have declared themselves experts in the field. It also reminded me of a number of conversations Geralt of Rivia has had in both the games, books and comics.

Now after all this, I enjoyed my time with Walkerman. I don't know if I'll start another playthrough until the second act comes out. I prefer to finish my VN's one route at a time. That said I very much enjoyed the parts where I went out to collect items or clues, do investigations, all in preparation of the final conflict with the "Weird". These moments are the game's strongest point. The fact that you can't just ask every question, collect every clue and item based on your decisions means what you have to work with at the final conflict can be very different from what you might have collected in other routes.

This means that sometimes you have to choose carefully your questions or decisions because you might not be able to exhaust a dialogue tree like other games. Some characters just don't want to answer every question and there's only so many hours in the day. As long as they put most of their efforts towards this aspect of the game I'll keep supporting it.. I am a big fan of a well written story a a choice centered story where the choices you make have a real effect and this game very much delivered on that for me. It's a shame it hasn't gotten more attention really.

+Pros
-The music is very enjoyable for the most part, the main theme was a bit jarring at first but it grew on me in a campy way.
- The main character seems to have a lot of depth to him and has an actual personality in him, rather than many games like this where the main character is as much of a blank slate as possible.
- The supporting cast has thus far seems to have a lot of potential depth to them and while screen time in the first episode was mostly dedicated to introducing them I look forward to seeing how the game builds on them in the future.
- The world building is well done and seems interesting. This is helped by the fact that aside from a few points where the prose gets a bit too flowery, the writing is very well done and helps to suck you in.
-The actual fight and build up to the fight with the enemy in this feels pretty well done in that it encourages you to make logical choices and follow an investigative through line in order to stand a chance in the final battle. While this first one was pretty straight forward and easy I look forward to seeing what kind of weird rules and tricks can be brought in in the future.

-Cons
-While the build up to the fights and the actual execution of the creatures weakness' all make sense and flow together well the actual work of doing the fight feels a bit too trial and error. The essential problem with the encounter is that you lack some very important information during the fight that makes it impossible to tell if using an item early was going to screw you over in the long run. Essentially because the game lets you use most of your options at any time it's very easy to use up an option early that the game expected you to save for later. While this isn't horrible in the first fight, if it's not tightened up a bit moving forward I can see it getting frustrating as the fights become more complex. Thankfully this is mitigated somewhat by the fact that you can save at any time, but going through the same scene over and over could get very frustrating very easily.

- While I enjoyed him, the main character is a bit of a jerk and this doesn't always gel with people reading the story. He's not necesarily a bad person and he's written that way on purpose but don't go into this expecting a golden boy protaganist, this guys has his own set of issues.

Overall I hugely recommend this game and am looking forward to seeing the story develop in the future.. Edit: After completing chapter 2 and absolutely loving it I can safely say that the majority of my issues were dealt with. The main character does indeed begin to lose some of the stick up his♥♥♥♥♥ That and the little flashes of brilliance shine much brighter and more consistently. It is definitely worth slogging though his tirades in this if only so you can appreciate how far he comes later.

Conflicted. I liked most things about the game, the story, the setting, and the characters -except- for the main character, he is insufferable. Honestly having to view the world through his eyes almost spoils the whole thing. He isn't a complete jackass but having to listen to his teenage angst ridden self righteous tirades about how the world is falling into "degeneracy" and how everyone is a degenerate but him was a bit much. The story could have focused so much more heavily on the interesting elements of what being a walkerman entails and having more encounters with the weird but instead it chooses to linger on its protagonist's reactionary political views. You could cut a solid 80% of the massive political diatribes and have a better game.

I might still pick up chapter 2 If there's some kind of growth in the main protagonist or at least significantly less of his whinging because I think that there is a very strong setting and elements outside of the main character are handled well. There were many points were I wished this was a more traditional RPG where I could pick how my character felt about things. As it is I would liken the experience to going on an amazing fantasy monster hunt while being stuck with a teenage edge lord whining the whole way.. It's like playing chess but you need to find all your pieces before you start the game.

If you don't know how to use the piece your dead.
If you forgot the sequence on how to activate the piece, it blows up in your face and you guessed it your dead.

Also the main protagonist is a stoic masochist, interesting how I enjoy his interaction with the opposite sex.. This is a great visual novel story-wise. The visuals are great, too. The music is nothing to write home about but it fits the theme and environments. That being said, I can't recommend this game because it's being split up into separate acts that you have to pay for individually. Simply put, I can't and won't agree with this practice, not that the game doesn't deserve it but because I personally don't agree with the practice. I bought this game on the pretence that I'd be getting the full game overtime, but that's not the case. This being the store page for the game itself, the base game is technically incomplete with DLCs available for purchase to make it complete. It's not as bad as I'm making it out to be, but 7.79 for essentially 1-2 hours and then 3.29~ per act just isn't worth it for me, and I feel like it's worth pointing out how this game is being split up into several acts that you need to pay for.

I agree with something said on a review on the Act 2 page : I would rather buy a series of novels than buy this visual novel as the writing is great but not in a visual novel format..
